Fondly known as “The Midland” the company was founded at 76 Bath Street, Birmingham in 1889 and was arguably, the largest manufacturer of pistols, rifles and shotguns the UK has ever seen.
From a small beginning they outgrew their original premises and 1925 saw them at the Demon Gun Works, 81 Bath Street where the legendary “Demon” shotguns were born. From then until the late 1950’s their output was staggering, supplying guns of all calibres and configurations both to their own customers and to the trade.
Moving on to the changing times of the 1960’s and the loss of the sizeable cartridge room where the famous “Sudden Death” and “Double Demon” had been hand loaded in their millions prior to 1939. Now there was an atmosphere of “down sizing” which heralded the end of an era prior to this famous firm being acquired by Parker Hale.
For a few years Parker Hale continued to market shotguns made overseas and bearing the Midland name, in addition to having cartridges loaded for them.
The Present
The Midland is back and intends to become one of the UK's leading Wholesalers of guns, gun accessories and ammunition. To date a range of semi-automatic and over under shotguns have been launched along side air rifles and top quality ammunition. Without exception well received by both the trade and the shooter.
The shotguns and air rifles have been designed to offer a balanced blend of craftsmanship and value for money without the limitation of manufacturing to a budget. As such we believe they stand alone in the marketplace and give the shooter a complete package.
